Alpine bullhead

(Cottus poecilopus)

Alpine bullhead is similar to bullhead in size and looks, but alpine bullhead has a cross stripe in the ventral fins. Alpine bullhead inhabits cool waters rich in oxygen in the Finnish lake district and Northern Finland. The main diet of alpine bullhead consists of insect larvae and small bottom-dwelling crustaceans that the alpine bullhead lurks for between rocks and pounces on them.
