Silver bream and zope look very much like a small bream. However, silver bream and zope have much bigger eyes in proportion compared with bream. Silver bream and zope can be distinguished from each other by the tail fin; silver bream has a shorter fin which is concave in form. Zope has a long, relatively straight tail fin, like a bird’s feather. Zope can reach a length of up to forty centimetres. Zope feed more on plankton than any other Finnish roach fish. Zope is a species of Southern Finland’s inner waterways. It tolerates salty brackish water badly, and therefore it is seldom found on Finnish coast.
